A great channel to take a look at for interesting perspective in censorship is Censored Gaming. Censored Gaming usually takes a particular scene in gaming and shows you the release appearance in different regions. Take for example this video from Breath of Fire IV. Now this game censored a death scene in the US version of the game, while the Japanese version is completely untouched. Now we look at the video below we see Resident Evil 2's death scenes censored in Japan while in America it's unedited. Both Breath of Fire and Resident Evil 2 are made by Capcom and made within 2 years of each other. My only perspective on it is that Capcom likely thought that the death scene in Breath of Fire was inappropriate for the demographic that they targeted in the US (Breath of Fire 4 was rated T). Japan on the other hand seems to disapprove of realistic violence over cartoon violence. Anyway if you are interested check out the Youtube channel Censored Gaming.
